The Ventilator Unit for ventilator dependent residents has been open almost 12 months now.  We have approval from Life Safety for our three additional beds.

This increases the unit to fourteen (14) beds, and each bed has a red emergency outlet.  This provides automatic generator back-up in the case of a power failure.

Also, the ventilators have an hour battery back-up built in and will always be plugged into sprint packs which provide five hours of battery back-up; therefore, freedom of movement.

This means our new ventilator resident(s) can be as active as he/she wants and participate in as many functions as he/she would like; just like any of our other residents.

The New Van is HERE and being used for lots of fun trips for our residents!

Whispering Pines has completed another project:  "It's Never Too Late"

"It's Never Too Late" is a computer system with a touch screen.  The system can be loaded with whatever content the residents choose.  There are TV games that can be played in group settings by plugging into the large screen TV:  some of the favorites are Deal or No Deal and Wheel of Fortune.  There are also traditional games such as checkers and chess.  Residents can have their own site with private content regarding their past and their preferences to be shared with care givers and new friends.  There is also some additions specifically geared to therapy:  a joystick with a flying simulator, steering wheel with a driving simulator, pedling with choices of paths to bike down, and many more applications.
