John Doanne so aptly stated it years ago that no man is an island. So too do we realize that we at Whispering Pines are but a cog in the wheel of eldercare in Northwest Indiana. Toward that end, we are proud to link you to some of the high caliber organizations who are supplying care to our service population that we think you should know about:
  Link   Pines Village Retirement Communities
Our sister facility that extends the scope of services available on site.
Link   Visiting Nurse Association of Porter County
Healthcare service delivered in the comfort of your own home.
Link   United Way of Porter County Agencies
A list of health and human service programs supported by the United Way.
Link   United Way of Porter County Resource Guide
A downloadable PDF of the United Way resource directory.
Link   Indiana State Dept. of Health
The regulating body of all health care facilities in the state.
Link   US Dept. of Health and Human Services

Newsflash

The "Wall Upgrade" project is DONE!  Now we start the "NEW VAN" project.

Our New Initiative:  Buy a larger van that can accomodate up to four wheelchairs and ten to fifteen seated passengers (residents).

We are asking for grant money and donations to help Whispering Pines buy a larger van.

Currently, we can only accomodate two wheelchairs and six seated passengers.  This causes a problem when we have outings scheduled, because we do not have room for everyone who wants to go on the outing/function.  The residents have to take turns on who gets to go.

At least monthly we try to go out to lunch or on a shopping trip or even to the gambling boat.  These trips mean a great deal to the residents who live at Whispering Pines.  It is very difficult to tell someone that it is not their turn to get to go.

Any help towards this project through donations would be most welcome.
